Wow.  For cities to succeed environmentally, they also need to be fun, right?  Sprawl is dying and cities are the answer, but to finish the job one of our tasks must be to create exciting urban environments, in part by animating the public realm.  Our friends at the Project for Public Spaces have built a wonderful portfolio of work around the concept.

A performance group has now taken it to a new and highly animated level, as you can see in this quite amazing video by filmmaker Frank Sauer.  The video is called Light Emitting Dudes, and It’s kind of cool that they did it with LEDs (light-emitting diodes), an energy-efficient form of illumination with the potential eventually to be carbon-negative, producing more energy than it consumes.  But that’s down the road.  For the purpose of this post, let’s just focus on a different kind of energy, produced by “freerunners” in Bangkok.
